The Willow Project

The Willow project is an oil drilling project that will be carried out in Alaska, United States. The Willow project is an attempt by the United States government to obtain oil on a large scale. This drilling idea was proposed by one of the major oil companies in America, namely Conocophillips, which said that this drilling project would produce around 180 thousand barrels of oil per day. By producing that much oil per day, America will be the largest oil producing country for decades to come.

Environmental activists oppose the drilling project. The impact that will result from the project is not small, but it can disrupt and cause damage to the environment as well as to the animals that live there and to humans. The cause of global warming is not the most terrible impact that will result from this project, but the emergence of bacteria and viruses that may be dangerous will be a serious impact. Drilling for oil in Alaska will produce large quantities of noxious gases, which will have an adverse effect on the atmosphere. This spreads to another impact, namely the melting of ice in Alaska. The frozen land or ice there will melt if this drilling project continues, the bad impact is that there may be harmful bacteria and viruses in the melting ice. In addition to this, the habitat of animals that live there will be damaged and ecosystem damage will occur.

People who oppose the project have tried everything they can, by creating a petition that has been signed by more than 4 million people, and natural activists who have come to protest, but American President Joe Biden continues to continue the willow project.
